SMART GREEN INSECT

Smart Green Insect offers two new products from insect breeding:  biostimulantsof crops eflours rich in proteins, using an innovative production system in Europe with automated bio-reactors. The project also aims to create a pilot plant that uses innovative farming techniques, in order to show the potential of insecticulture for the development of new opportunities in the sector, promotion of diversification, employment, generational turnover and an ecosystem that revolves around alternative food productions.

This project is part  of the Rural Development Program of Navarra 2014-2020 and  is 90% financed with support from  the European Union through the EAFRD funds and the Government of Navarra in 65 and 35% of the co-financing, respectively.

THE FOOD OF FUTURE

The project, funded by the Marche Region (POR MARCHE FESR 2014/2020), has allowed the development of the first Nutrinsect pilot plant, which hosts intensive domestic cricket breeding activities, transformation of crickets into dried products for the pet food and food sectors. Furthermore, a fundamental aspect of the project is represented by the application of the Circular Economy principle, thanks to the recovery of insect breeding waste and their valorization as fertilizing products for sustainable agriculture.

RECOVER

Recover's main objective is the problem of biodegradation of plastic in the agri-food industry. In fact, the project promotes an innovative biotic symbiosis based on the interaction of microorganisms and insects, in order to degrade common plastics such as PET, LDPE, PS. Recover is funded by the Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking (JU) under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program.
